I think the hundreds of reviews of this recipe speak for themselves, but let me add my own testament that this German Chocolate Cake is THE CAKE that every person in my family requested for their birthday growing up. I was super lucky, being a twin, because my mom would make both of our favorites: German chocolate cake for my sister, and carrot cake for me!
How To Make a German chocolate cake?
Component :
Cake :
3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 small spoon of salt
1 cup buttermilk
4 eggs whites, whiskered
1 cup boiling water
5 ounces German chocolate
2 cups of sugar
1 cup butter, softened
4 egg yolks
1 tsp vanilla
Coconut-Pecan Frosting
3 egg yolks
2 cups peeled coconut
1 cup divided pecans
1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 cup evaporated milk ( 12 oz)
1 tsp vanilla
Methods :
Step 1: Heating oven to 350 F.
Step 2: Melt the chocolate with boiling water; in large mixing bowl mix butter and sugar until light. Beat in eggs yolk, one at a time. Beat in chocolate and vanilla. Mix in flour, baking soda, and salt every other with buttermilk, beating after every addition until batter is sleek. Fold in egg whites.
Step 3: Divide batter between pans until cooked.
Coconut-Pecan Frosting :
Mix sugar, milk, butter, vanilla, and egg yolks in a saucepan. Cook over heat, until thick, for 13 minutes.
