For the Hamburger Steak Patties:
1 large egg
1/4 cup bread crumbs
6 slices of bacon, cooked and chopped
1 teaspoon of seasoned salt
3 tablespoons olive oil
1-1/2 pounds ground beef
1 large onion, diced
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoons fresh black pepper
1 cup all-purpose flour
For the Brown Onion Mushroom Gravy:
1 large onion, chopped
1 cup of beef broth
1 cup of water
1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon seasoning salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
1 Tablespoon Gravy master (orange top)
2 cups of freshly sliced mushrooms
Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, add all the ingredients for the patty aside from the olive oil and flour.
Step 2: Make 4 to 6 patties out of the mixture.
Step 3: Dip each patty into the flour and make sure to coat each evenly.
Step 4: Place a skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Step 5: Add the olive oil and allow it to become hot.
Step 6: Add the patties and cook both sides until the colour turns brown.
Step 7: Set aside the accumulated grease from the patties.
Step 8: Add the onions and 1 tablespoon of water. Cook until the onions caramelize.
Step 9: In a medium mixing bowl, add in the water, 1/4 cup of flour, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, gravy master, seasoning salt, and pepper. Whisk until well mixed.
Step 10: Transfer the mixture into the skillet and stir until thick.
Step 11: Add the cooked patties and coat each by flipping from time to time. The hamburgers should absorb the gravy.
Step 12: Add in the chopped mushrooms.
Step 13: Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes or until heated through.
Step 14: Place the burgers on a clean serving plate. Place the mashed potatoes on top.
Step 15: Serve and enjoy!
