5 Yams, medium-sized
1/4 teaspoon Ginger, ground
Baking & spices

1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg, ground
1 tablespoon Vanilla extract, pure
1 teaspoon Cinnamon, ground
1/4 teaspoon Clove, ground
1 cup Granulated sugar
1/4 cup Brown sugar

8 tablespoon butter, salted

instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 F.
Wash, peel, and then chop the yams (make sure they are about 1/2 inch thick.). Put the yams in a 9×13 baking dish.
Pour the butter into a medium saucepan and melt it over medium heat.
Once the butter is melted, sprinkle in the brown & white sugar, ground nutmeg, ground cinnamon, ground clove, and ground ginger.
Turn off the heat, stir the ingredients together, then add the vanilla extract.
Place the candied mixture on the yams and try to coat all the yams with the candied mixture.
Then cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake the yams in the oven for 30 minutes.
Take the yams out of the oven and brush them with the candied mixture.
Cover the yams and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes.
Pull the yams out of the oven and let them rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
