Southern Cornbread

Picture this. Sitting at your front porch, sipping your favourite cup of coffee, and eating this delicious cornbread! Oh, man, if you don’t think that’s the greatest thing ever, I don’t know what is. This amazing treatment will surely make your day extra special. It tastes like the one I buy at this Pastry Shop downtown. I am so glad that I decided to give this recipe a try because I never would have tasted perfection that I made myself! If you feel like something is lacking in this recipe, by all means, feel free to add more ingredients. I hope you all have an amazing day, friends. 1 large Egg
1 1/2 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup Crisco vegetable oil
2 cups self-rising enriched white cornmeal mix
1/4 cup oil for skillet

Step 1: Prepare the oven and preheat to 450 degrees F.

Step 2: Apply cooking spray in an 8-inch ovenproof skillet.

Step 3: Place the skillet inside the preheated oven and let it sit inside for 7 to 8 minutes or until hot.

Step 4: In a small mixing bowl, add cracked egg and beat until creamy.

Step 5: Add milk, cornmeal, and oil. Stir until well mixed creamy. Add more tablespoons of milk if it gets too thick.

Step 6: Transfer the mixture into the prepared pan or skillet.

Step 7: Place it inside the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the colour turns golden brown.

Step 8: Remove from the oven and let it sit on a wire rack to cool at room temperature.

Step 9: Serve and enjoy!
